Just how bad is the problem with new builds and why you should have your new home snagged ? Recent statistics have shown that developers are building hew homes at a faster rate than ever before and in the race to maximise profits the quality of finish has sunk to an all time low - as the recent TV programme "Tonight with Trevor McDonald" highlighted. The following extract is taken from the Guardian dated the 28 March 2007 : "Many people prefer brand new homes, but beware the many "snags" ... warns Peter Davy
" ... more commonly, though, the problems won't begin until you have moved in. New homes have become notorious for "snags": minor defects that remain after the building has been signed off. These include anything from paint splashes or chipped tiles to faulty electrics or dodgy plumbing. The most recent HBF (Home Builders Federation) customer satisfaction survey found that more than 90% of new-build owners reported problems to the builder after moving in".
