We work to the UK's construction industry standard (the NHBC's guidelines and tolerances) and below are a very small sample of snags (defects) we uncovered in brand new properties over the past few years.

Why the poor workmanship? The UK construction industry is facing a shortage of skilled trades. On top of that many developers (in pursuit of yet larger profits to satisfy shareholders) employ unqualified tradesmen and women on meagre wages.

Leaking shower screen (and shabby sealant finish)

Poorly aligned sockets and switches

Wardrobe doors not flush with frame

Contrasting, non matching floorboards

Toilet flush (poor sealant finish to hide gap with wall)

Poor fitting balustrade (timber placed behind newel post)

Paving not flush with garden walls (mortar filled)
